Why Mentors Matter

Mentors are the people who see potential in you long before the world does. They challenge you, guide you, and hold you to a higher standard—not just in your profession, but in how you show up every day.

Over 20 years ago, I met my mentor—Omi Iwasaki—during an internship at Athletes’ Performance. Since that moment, he’s been a constant in my journey. His depth of knowledge, humility, and ability to lead by example have made a lasting impact on me personally and professionally.

Omi’s resume speaks volumes—from building elite-level performance and rehab systems to mentoring some of the top professionals in the game. But more than titles and roles, Omi has the unique ability to elevate everyone around him.

I’m a better coach, leader, and person because of his guidance.

Mentorship isn’t a title—it’s a responsibility. And if you’re lucky enough to have someone like Omi in your life, you know the value it brings.

Here’s to paying it forward and being that person for someone else.

Stay strong,
Marc
